#Sooo60ish summer swerve: well this was unexpected! Here are a few more things that got us through my husband’s open heart surgery. Save and share 🛟 ✅ The recliner rule. He needed to sit AND sleep in one the first few days. Ask around before you buy, you’d be shocked how many people have one collecting dust in a garage. ✅ The spare room hack. I cleared it out, rearranged for walker access, made it his recovery base. (We have dogs and I snore, so honestly… win-win. 😂) ✅ The one folder rule. Every med, dose, appointment, discharge paper. One place. No hunting. ✅ New pillbox. Non-negotiable when the meds multiply overnight. ✅ The Goodwill find that changed everything. A hospital table with wheels. $ finds > overpriced medical supply stores every time. ✅ Accept help. Between my kids, mother in law, friends and family I was very blessed to have support and some people who just took charge so I didn’t have to. ✅ Nap when you can. Even 20 minutes. Caregiver exhaustion is real and it sneaks up on you. ✅ The business didn’t stop. I’m a Realtor, content creator, AND coach. My clients still needed me so I worked out a schedule especially the first couple of weeks to make sure things were handled. Now for the parts nobody warns you about… 😂 37 years of marriage and this recovery had us laughing through moments we never saw coming. Drawstring pants dropping mid-hallway walking with the walker because the tie on them was loose. Small wins like getting rid of the walker, showering alone, sleeping thru the night all came in time. This is #SoooBoca and #Sooo60ish real talk. Gen Jones is caregiving spouses AND parents right now, all while still working and running businesses. So here is to you!!! PS…Andy’s doing great. Cleared to drive 6 weeks post yay! Walking a mile per day minimum and feeling grateful. I’m still catching my breath a bit but had a little getaway to Key Largo over the weekend! Thank you Susan 🥰

Health is wealth. ❤️ The last several weeks have been a reminder that life can change in an instant. Unexpected is never fun, but we’re incredibly grateful that all is well and Andy is on the road to recovery from open heart surgery. 🎉 Thank you to everyone who has called, texted, sent meals, DoorDash gift cards, checked in, prayed, and wrapped our family in so much love. We truly feel it. Huge hugs to our amazing family and friends. ❤️ As we start this next chapter, heart-healthy living is becoming part of our everyday life. We’re embracing some new habits, making changes in the kitchen, and looking forward to discovering delicious foods that love us back.
